Great Composers Concert
The Great Composers Concert is a standout event that celebrates the timeless brilliance of classical music. Featuring exceptional performances of works by some of the world鈥檚 most renowned composers, this concert offers an inspiring experience for music lovers and the 海角社区community. We are proud to present this remarkable showcase of musical talent year after year and to share the beauty of these masterpieces with our students, faculty, and guests.
This year's Great Composers Concert will be directed by Bobby Ivey, 海角社区Assistant Professor and Director of Choirs, featuring the 海角社区 Chorale along with Ellawyn Ketch, soprano, Joshua DeVane, baritone, Dr. John Coble, organ, Julie Koenig, harp, Michele Mariage Volz, violin, and Dr. Heejin Park, piano.
Another highlight for this concert will include 海角社区 music alumni, 海角社区 Singers, and the 海角社区 Chorale combining to perform Cantique de Jean Racine, Op. 11, another beautiful masterpiece of Faur茅.
The French composer Gabriel Faur茅 (1845-1924) was one of the foremost French composers of his time, influencing many 20th-century composers. His Requiem is unique because it leaves behind the anguish, loss, and horrors typically associated with Death and Judgement Day. Faur茅 concentrates on the true meaning of the word “Requiem” or “rest.” His Requiem is about peaceful acceptance and release, and the music is serene, elevating, and comforting.
The Great Composers Concert will be performed on Saturday, April 26th, at 7:30 PM in the 海角社区Chapel.
The community is invited to attend. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students. Ticket sales support our music students and allow us to continue to provide the community with exceptional musical performances. Tickets may be purchased by visiting: 海角社区.edu/tickets
